Korea Women’s Hotline is an organization based in Korea that is committed to achieve a nonviolent world and to promote gender equality. Since starting in 1983, KWHL has helped protect women’s rights from domestic abuse, sexual violence, human trafficking, and supporting migrant women in Korea.
KWHL provides counseling services to women exposed to domestic or sexual abuse. KWHL has a shelter to help support victims build independency while providing them with medical assistance, legal assistance, and counseling.
KWHL has addressed social problems caused by violence against women and helped Korean society recognize these issues as crimes. KWHL’s advocacy has led to the establishment of three laws preventing sexual violence, domestic violence, and sex trade have been established.
KWHL has organized the Asian Women’s Network to address violence against women as an international issue and not just a domestic concern.
KWHL is recognized as a nationwide organization with 25 branches throughout Korea. Each branch is actively campaigning and advocating women’s rights and anti-violence among women.
